Blind Teen and Dog Compete Together in Races

By  |

Sami Stoner loves to do something that countless other people do: she likes to go on runs with her dog, Chloe. But, there are a strange things about these runs. First of all, they”re competitions. And secondly, Chloe has to be there with Sami, because Sami is blind.

Sami, a legally blind teen, loves running. She is on the Lexington High School cross country team and doesn”t let the adversity she face scare her. She is in her fourth year of competing and even has a waiver from the state high school athletic association that allows her to compete with a dog.

Chloe is happy to run with Sami wherever she goes.

Especially if that means they win.

You would think it”s impossible to run without sight; you need to see the course, your competitors and other obstacles you face along the way. Luckily, Sami has a best friend that not only guides her through her days at high school, but also runs with her when she competes in cross country.

They call dogs “man”s best friend” for a reason.
